SM Supermalls and CSC Celebrate 125 Years of Philippine Civil Service with Job Fairs that Champion Public Service Careers

“I am happy that they came up with a job fair for government agencies. Many still want to serve and work for our government,” said Ken Gonzaga, who applied for several positions during the Job Fair event held at SM North EDSA.

SM Supermalls, in partnership with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), continues to champion employment opportunities for Filipinos as it rolls out a series of Job Fairs nationwide this September

The initiative forms part of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA), which highlights the enduring legacy of public service every September. Job seekers will gain access to job opportunities in national government agencies, local government units, government-owned and controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges. These job fairs offer job seekers the unique opportunity to find their purpose in public service.

Opening the doors to public service | The Civil Service Commission (CSC) together with SM Supermalls officially opened the Civil Service Anniversary Job Fair at SM City North EDSA in celebration of CSC’s 125th year.

Partners in nation-building | Representatives from CSC and SM Supermalls join forces to bring government sector job opportunities closer to Filipinos. This reaffirms their commitment to empower Filipinos with sustainable careers during the CSC’s 125th Anniversary.

Beyond Employment: Building a Nation of Servants

These job fairs go beyond recruitment. They highlight the critical role of civil service in nation-building, inspiring Filipinos to pursue careers that directly impact communities and transform lives.

Accessible and inclusive | Jobseekers of all ages line up for opportunities at the Job Fair of the Civil Service Commission in partnership with SM Supermalls at SM North EDSA.

SM Supermalls President Steven Tan emphasized the importance of the collaboration: “SM is honored to celebrate 125 years of Philippine Civil Service by opening our malls as venues where Filipinos can discover not just jobs, but meaningful careers in public service. By working hand-in-hand with CSC and our government partners, we continue to support an empowered citizenry and sustainable nation-building.”

A Legacy of Service, A Future of Opportunities

The Civil Service Anniversary Job Fairs reaffirmed SM Supermalls’ role as a trusted partner of the government—helping agencies source their talents, empowering jobseekers to find stable and impactful careers, and bringing essential services closer to communities.

For many participants, these job fairs also meant finding purpose in serving the nation. Joanne Moriel, a fresh graduate has her eye on government employment: “Especially with what’s happening now in the country, I want to be part of the public sector to be able to help make a difference.”

As part of the exclusive celebration of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, SM Supermalls mounted a series of job fairs nationwide in partnership with the Civil Service Commission. These were held on September 3 at SM City Tuguegarao, September 3–4 at SM CDO Downtown Premier and SM City Butuan, September 4 at SM City North EDSA, September 4–5 at SM City Iloilo, and September 5 at SM City Legazpi. Through its #SMJobFair campaign, SM Supermalls remains committed to making opportunities in both the private and public sector accessible, convenient, and inclusive—transforming malls into gateways where ordinary Filipinos can build extraordinary futures.

Green Acts, Big Impact

When it comes to saving the planet, grand gestures often steal the spotlight—but it’s the small, everyday choices that quietly shape tomorrow. SM Prime Holdings, Inc. knows this well, and through the SM Green Movement, it’s proving that “simple acts” can create a shared and lasting impact for generations to come.

Born during the pandemic, the Green Movement began with stories of employees reducing waste, conserving water, and using energy responsibly—even in lockdown. Those little choices planted the seeds of a nationwide sustainability drive that now unites employees, tenants, communities, and mallgoers under one vision: a greener, more climate-resilient Philippines.

The Everyday Revolution

The movement zooms in on three essentials—waste, water, and energy—translating big sustainability goals into habits everyone can practice. It’s not just about reducing carbon emissions (SM Prime is targeting net-zero by 2040), but also about making greener living feel doable, whether you’re a student, shopper, or supplier.

As SM Supermalls EVP for Marketing Joaquin San Agustin puts it:

“We’re not just building malls, homes, or offices—we’re building opportunities for everyone to be part of the solution. And the best part is, it starts with what we do every day.”

Powered by Partnerships

Lasting change doesn’t happen in silos. The SM Green Movement thrives because of collaboration—working with local governments, NGOs, schools, and communities to design solutions that are both sustainable and practical.

Every recycled bottle, every drop of water saved, every watt conserved—it all counts. Or as San Agustin notes, “The SM Green Movement is all about collective impact.”

Greener Tomorrows, Today

From individual action to community-wide campaigns, the SM Green Movement is reframing sustainability as something achievable, relatable, and urgent. It’s no longer just about protecting the planet—it’s about creating a better quality of life, now and for the generations that follow.

Because the truth is simple: when many people do small things, the future gets big, bright, and green.

DTI and SM Supermalls Highlight Philippine Coconut Industry Trade

MSMEs take the spotlight | Local entrepreneurs showcase coconut-based products proudly crafted by Filipino hands

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), together with the Philippine Coconut Authority, proudly launched the 2025 COCONUTPhilippines Trade Fair from August 28 to September 2 at SM Megamall, shining the spotlight on one of the country’s most iconic and powerful agricultural assets—the coconut.

Organized under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) mandated by Republic Act No. 11524, the fair went beyond showcasing products—it became a coconut-powered movement celebrating sustainability, innovation, and farmer empowerment.

Visitors discovered a diverse lineup of food, wellness, and lifestyle products crafted by Filipino coconut farmers and MSMEs, proving how the humble coconut continues to create opportunities and transform communities nationwide.

Sustainability Meets Innovation

From organic health supplements to biodegradable household items, the fair highlighted eco-friendly innovations that show how coconuts are shaping a more sustainable future.

“With support from DTI and SM, we’re able to reach more Filipino consumers and let more people discover our products. Kimes Foods today holds patents in 11 countries and distributes abroad.” – Dr. Priscilla Kimes, Kimes Foods (Cebu)

“Simula pa 2011, kasali na kami rito at full support talaga ang DTI sa amin. At kapag sa SM po ang trade fair, malakas talaga ang benta,” said Randy Pineda, President of the Association of Bamboo and Coco Crafts of Tiwi (Albay).

SM’s Strong Commitment to MSMEs

As a partner, SM Supermalls reaffirmed its commitment to supporting MSMEs by providing platforms that elevate local industries, create economic opportunities, and champion proudly Filipino-made products.

“By bringing together coconut farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs under one roof, the COCONUTPhilippines Trade Fair not only strengthens the coconut industry but also empowers the communities behind it. SM Supermalls is proud to be part of this mission,” said Steven Tan, President of SM Supermalls.

With over 220 exhibitors nationwide, the 2025 COCONUTPhilippines Trade Fair stands as a powerful testament to how government and private partnerships can drive inclusive growth, uplift Filipino farmers, and build a stronger future for MSMEs.
